Video Divina: Decalogue Three
St. Monica's Parish Hall - 6405 Terrebonne, Montreal, Qc.
On Christmas Eve, a family gathers at the decorated tree and drinks a toast, but there is tension in the air. Later they go to Church. A solitary woman drives aimlessly through the deserted streets, in a desperate search of a human contact on this most holy night. A former lover of the man, she lures him away from his family under false pretenses, and the man, suspecting her duplicity, goes along with it: together they undertake a violent and perilous “dark night of the soul.” At dawn, the woman confesses her ruse, the man admits his awareness, and they part, almost amicably. Returning to his wife, the man insists will be faithful to her; but the woman turns away from him. Have they, all three, somehow respected the holiness of the feast?
